CLUB SESSIONS
Newton Road Runners typically train up to 3 times per week; Mondays; Tuesdays and Thursdays. All 3 have a specific purpose and are open to all members. Outside of the structured sessions, there are always members of the club up for a run!
MONDAY NIGHT SPEED SESSION
A regular session focussed around improving speed and fitness! Short, structured repeated runs to really get those legs moving. All abilities welcome!
TUESDAY NIGHT LONG ROUTE
The Tuesday Night long run is a good opportunity to add a little distance to your training routine. Typically the route is around 10km -14km and caters to a variety of speeds but tends to feature the quicker runners in the club.
TUESDAY NIGHT SHORT ROUTE
This route is a little shorter as you would probably guess! The route tends to be between 7km - 10km and accomodates all paces.
DEVELOPMENT AND RECOVERY GROUP
The Development and Recovery Group (DRG) is a supportive and inclusive group where runners can build the foundations to enhance their performance and recover from injuries effectively. The DRG runs on the same nights as the other groups but has a unique route on a Tuesday evening.
While there are no entry criteria, we recommend that you should be able to run a 5k in around 36mins as this supports the coaches to maintain a cohesive session. However, we appreciate everyone is at a different point in their running journey and we are happy to chat through how we can help. If you would like to discuss then please contact us through the website or social media.
THURSDAY NIGHT
Thursday nights are what you make them, usually either local laps or 15 mins out and then turn and run back to the start. Open to all abilities and up to you whether you make it short and steady or want to treat it as a time trial to measure your progress. Everyone starts and finishes at the same place regardless of the distance covered.
