REMEMBERING THROUGH RUNNING

November 11, 2024

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the club in the build up to the Cat Gaskell Memorial 10k and 3k races. All the work came to a perfect crescendo on Saturday with the amazing running community transcending on the Newton to remember Cat Gaskell and Millie Nichol.

The 3k race kicked off the running with the Smith family (Springburn Harriers) dominating the race with Finn winning the race in an incredible 10:07, closely followed by Skye and Willow. Amazing effort from everyone involved.

The sold out 10k finished with Law & District AAC's Ross Mcdonald successfully defending his 2023 title in an incredible 32:19, 7secs faster than his 2023 time. Lothian Running Club's Jo Williams claimed first female in an impressive 38:50.

All supporters, volunteers and participants were invited back to the Newton Arms for post race celebrations. The club held a raffle to raise funds for the charity Beat Eating Disorders. Thanks to the support of the running community we were able to raise £2300 for this great cause. A special thanks to all the volunteers and supporters, to Stevie and Sandra of the Newton Arms and to our sponsors DreamKey Mortgages, McAllisters Later Life Planning, Minuteman Press Glasgow and Taylor Wimpey.
