ABOUT NEWTON ROAD RUNNERS
Born to Run
Newton Road Runners is a club built on the principles of inclusion and a collective drive to better ourselves. We welcome runners of all abilities so long as they share our goals of inclusion and perseverance. Started in 2016, the club has grown each year and developed into a group of likeminded individuals who all support each other and push each other to train harder every day. STRATHCLYDE TAKEOVER
September 20, 2024
Another busy weekend for the Newton Road Runners. The club ascended on Strathclyde Parkrun to cover the volunteer roles for our 'Parkrun Takeover'. Thanks to the team for allowing us another opportunity to promote our upcoming 10k race.
In other news, a big well done to Scott and Jase who took on the Edinburgh Men's 10k. A special mention to Scott who smashed his 10k PB. A testament to all of his hard work and consistency over the last few month.
Our super siblings Claire and Joe continued their preparation for the New York Marathon by taking on the Kelpies half marathon. Well done guys, another step closer to The Big Apple.
Spaces are still available for the Cat Gaskell Memorial Newton 10k on the 9th of November. Entries are available at Newton Road Races 10k & 3k - EntryCentral
SPEEDY STIRLING
September 08, 2024
Busy weekend for our club athletes, this week! The club were well represented at the Scottish National 10k Championships with Pete, Joanna, Martin, Fiona, Jase, Adam and Jen all tacking a stacked field to earn that coveted empire biscuit!
Elsewhere, club coach and pocket rocket, Laine, and pacing legend Natalie lined up in the 60,000 strong crowd for the Great North Run. Coach Al covered the half marathon distance in the Auchterarder Running Festival.
Finally, a special mention to Stuart who braved 14 beaches, hills and knee high bogs to complete the Tiree ultra (55km). Not quite the scene on the beach from Rocky 3 but definitely an inspiring effort from the big man!
NEW DEVELOPMENT AND RECOVERY GROUP
August 05, 2024
In response to feedback, we are delighted to announce that we have started a Development and Recovery Group within the club.
The purpose of this group will be to support the development of members to the point where they are able to progress and participate in the club’s other groups to meet the individual’s goals. It is aimed at providing an option for existing members who are recovering from injury, those who may have found the short route too challenging and to new members building up their distance to be included within the club.
The group operates on the same days as the current club sessions. The Tuesday session will be local to the Newton area and will be specifically designed to meet the needs of the group. The Thursday session will be adapted from the usual club session.
See the Club Sessions page for more details.
